It is both fascinating and validating to see him get some comeuppance. As a retired employee relations manager at Merrill Lynch, I do wonder what’s finally shifted to bring his “management style” to light. For years executive management seemed to grit their teeth and look the other way, plus everyone was aware he had a pit bull PR manager running behind cleaning up the messes he made.
During my time there, the impact of his decisions on the careers of women and people of color was hard to miss, even if it was always dressed up in polished corporate language. Last year, ML finally shuttered the training program for market executives that he was responsible for, which, it is my understanding, was sued multiple times for discrimination. There were also lingering questions around conflicts of interest with his wife, who managed a very large book until 2017.
I am pleased to see light get shined on him finally. I guess it’s true that karma comes for everyone eventually.
