Story 365 – I worked briefly at JPM after it acquired First Republic. My experience is that [REDACTED] is a menace, but that’s not what I came here to say.

What shocked me was the degree to which employees behaved as though they were part of the Cult of Dimon. No matter how basic or pedantic his advice, people reacted as though they were in the presence of Jesus Christ.

I would immediately be transported back to my days in Catholic high school and find myself thinking, “En el nombre del Padre, y del Hijo, y del Espíritu Santo. Amén,” as I watched employees fall all over themselves to kiss his ring.

He seems to enjoy being worshipped. That’s why I suspect he won’t retire until he hangs on a little too long, like Bob Iger.
