These stories are horrific, disturbing, and just foul. Many are violent and highly sexual in nature. That alone should concern all of us. But beyond the content itself, we need to be honest about the purpose of collecting and amplifying them in a public space
If the intent is to “open the floodgates,” then there must be clarity about what happens next?? Exposure without structure or direction is not accountability. It risks becoming retraumatizing for the very women being harmed, while allowing the underlying systems to remain untouched!!
If the goal is justice, then there must be a clear pathway to it… Documentation, escalation to appropriate oversight bodies, legal review, and involvement of credible third parties are how systemic abuse is addressed.. not through unstructured amplification alone.
The real question isn’t how far these stories travel. It’s who is responsible once they do.
If this effort is serious about addressing the dehumanization of women then it must be disciplined, intentional, and outcome driven. Otherwise, it risks becoming another space where women’s pain is visible but still unresolved. Will this be used for a book? Podcast? How far will is this reach? Just a thought.
