Editor’s Note

We are beginning to receive multiple story submissions from a single person at one time, which is absolutely fine. We get it: There’s a lot to say!

There is a lot of scrutiny on this site – specifically, people are watching to see if submissions are organic. How we know, is that a powerful PR agent planted one in the hopes we would manipulate it so that he could trap us w/ screenshots to give the press in hopes of discrediting us. (At least that’s our guess.) When that didn’t happen – because we aren’t touching anything except to redact names – he started frantically trying to cover his tracks. It was both painful and amusing to watch the ensuing panic that happened once he realized his story was published exactly like he sent it.

All this to say, from now on, if you submit multiple stories in a row, we will add a number to it. So, if you send in four posts it will say (1/4, 2/4, etc.).

Otherwise, you’re always welcome to space submissions out.

Thank you to this community for your thoughtful stories. So many of them are heartbreaking and all of this toxicity is so avoidable.

The world is watching & you are making a difference.

Citi has a culture that supports misogyny, gender bias, and a wide array of unethical employment practices. For close to 20 years I have witnessed and, at times, been subjected to all of the above. For the most part, Citi reinforces an environment of apathy towards whistleblowers or those who “complain”. This is despite a…

The lawsuit recently filed against Citi Wealth is, unfortunately, a familiar tale. The company follows a well-established playbook: employees who raise concerns can expect retaliation. I know because it happened to me. Shortly after COVID, I reported a significant issue with a trading platform in the Private Bank. Months later, while I was on FMLA…

No one has discussed Citi’s accountability framework, the HR tool that maps disciplinary actions to categories of offense, ranging from warning to termination. In principle: consistent consequences regardless of rank. In practice: a tool that is not being applied to the managers complained about, who remain in their roles. The point is this: a framework or a…

I worked for 10 years in the industry on the trading floor at two bulge bracket US banks. I started as a graduate and very quickly learned what it took to succeed as a woman – ‘wear shorter skirts’ I was told, followed by rumours that I had only been hired because the boss wanted…

To the community, I’ve been reading the stories here for some time, and like many of you, I recognize the patterns. Most recently from Stories 331, 327 and 324, but there are many others. While our individual experiences may not strictly be the same, and each deserves to stand on its own terms, I think…

Re: Story 238—I was a business analyst on Julia Carreon’s team when she was ousted from Citi. The situation was abrupt and unusual, and it left everyone with the sense that something serious had happened. I’ve been waiting to see if her name surfaced on this platform so I could show my support. She is…
