Story 10

Here’s a legendary Citi story: A male MD known for bullying called a female peer an expletive in a team meeting. A complaint was filed; it was investigated and confirmed to be true. But the complainant was told that he “was misunderstood / didn’t mean it.”

It was later confirmed by a colleague who had been at the firm for decades that HR had allowed numerous other complaints of bullying for this same man to be wiped from his record.

If you work on Wall Street for any period of time, you will come across bullies and will need to find a way to deal with them. But what drives me the most mad is NO WOMAN would thrive the way he did, let alone get away with multiple infractions. She would be fired after the first complaint.

-It’d be funny if it wasn’t true
