Story 12
I was laid off by Citi in January, 2024. I was 69 at the time and had a combined 45 years of tenure dating back to Shearson.
I had recently chosen to leave a Regional Director position managing the state of CA for Wealth Management. I was very highly regarded by my team, my colleagues and my direct manager. My position at the time of the RIF was a combination of roles that included running internal conferences and real estate optimization. I was not well liked by my 2 up manager.
It is interesting to note that I was a branch manager for Smith Barney in the 2000s and was part of those lay offs that significantly impacted a large percentage of female managers. We successfully meditated against SB and Morgan Stanley. Our attorney at the time said that they gave the women branches with only 3 wheels on the car and then punctured the remaining tires. So nothing much has changed.
I’m now happily retired but wish you all success and support in this ongoing endeavor.
