Story 142

I was covering a role temporarily as a favor to my boss, on top of my regular work. When asked if I wanted to keep it and I said no, I was layered under someone recognized to be less qualified—without warning.

This wouldn’t have happened had I been an Indian male, younger.

When challenged, my boss told Ethics I’d been “given a choice.” A choice without full information isn’t a choice. It’s a setup – a tactic to absolve themselves of responsibility.

When they say to your face they are your friend, be on high alert: they are masquerading to try and save their necks.
