Story 254

To Story 252: know that you aren’t alone—and you aren’t “crazy”. The “gaslighting” of an altered performance review is a classic corporate tactic used to create a paper trail for future termination or to justify withholding bonuses/promotions.

1. Ensure those screenshots and logs are saved on a personal device.
2. Send a firm, professional follow-up to HR. Mention that the lack of acknowledgment in 150 days is concerning.
3. Log a complaints with the Ethics hotline – it’s tracked separately from HR and creates an external paper trail.
4. Look for an attorney who specializes in “Constructive Discharge.” Even if you don’t sue, a demand letter from a law firm will force a reaction – but don’t hold your breath for resolution to your benefit.

Citi is not a good place for employment at any stage of one’s career. But starting your career at a reputable company sets the stage for the years to come. Go and find that better job now. Don’t let their lack of ethics make you doubt your own value.

Spent the next two years networking my way back to my former firm and escaped in 2025. Don’t understand how this isn’t a risk issue for…
