Story 354

New here. Former Citi employee who felt like I was in the Twilight Zone every single day, not just because of the toxicity. But the bizarre dynamic that MDs bark at “the little people” all day to do *their* work, while *they* mingle, attend *important* meetings, lunch – and after lunch blame said-little-people that he/she missed the mark on whatever thing they, themselves would be expected to do at any other company.

I am just glad I found it here; at least I know I am not the crazy one. And, no, kids – every bank is not this dysfunctional. I’ve worked at two others.

P.S. SLT is so corrupt I don’t think they give a damn about these stories. Actually, I’m sure they’re mocking of anyone who is posting. That said, I’m sure this site’s existence makes them apoplectic and, that, my friends is priceless.

My manager at Citi (very visible MD in the U.S. within a critical professional advisory global function) would often call my peer female colleagues b!#che$ and c@nt$. Those exact words. To Story 266. You raise meritocracy as the standard. Agreed entirely. So let us apply it. For the first five years of Fraser’s tenure, the vast majority of her direct reports have been men. On your logic, one of two conclusions follows: either Citi employs the most talented concentration of male leadership in the history…

Thank you to Story 259 for testifying that even men think Citi is a professionally bankrupt environment. The baseless arrogance in this place is staggering — particularly given how little actual capability underlies it. When MDs were pushed out in the 2023 reorganization, some called the Big Four looking for positions and couldn’t be placed…

You seem desperate to suck up to Jane whereas I’m not her slave. But, also, I didn’t criticize her in the least. I simply pointed out that her job is to also manage risk. Here’s the answer ChatGPT has. But by all means, come back at me again. I’ll be here all night. A diverse…

A co-worker told me a certain Managing Director “hated me because I came from the team” that she had just taken over. I had made the productive and professional choice to leave that team due to undermining, bullying, retaliation and incompetent management. When she attempted to block my transfer (which had already been agreed with…
