Story 377

Dear Story 374:

Unfortunately there are many reasons why a lot of us can’t share details of our case. Notably because of NDAs. And we have reason to believe Citi is scouring these stories looking for reasons to sue someone for violating that NDA – not that they would actually risk it because of the ensuing publicity – but it’s something many live in fear of.

But one example of them being absolutely terrible that I am personally aware of involved a case in Dubai. An expat from Europe filed a complaint against her supervisor after alleging severe workplace abuse. Under the applicable rules, Citi was not required to turn over her HR Personnel File to the defense, but it had the option to do so – and it chose to. She was shocked and devastated.

It’s my understanding she walked away from the case w/out settling because it was all too much but not before being legitimately concerned for her personal safety.

Anyway, giving confidential information directly to an alleged abuser is peak-Citi. It has the same vibes as the Ardith Lindsey case, which is a matter of public record.

Can you imagine what stories exist the public is unaware of?!

I am grateful for this platform. But reading these stories, I have to ask, do people truly understand what this does to us? It is not just a moment. It is a ripple effect that follows us for years. Gaps in our résumés that are not gaps at all, but proof of endurance, survival, and…

I was a Managing Director at Citi and when a significant promotion was available, it was given to a male who was a Director, a more junior title at Citi than Managing Director. By Citi’s own standards, I was senior to this male. I had to report to the male, who had less seniority and…

A former Director from DART who joined ERM Product into an MD role exhibited a troubling pattern of conduct toward a woman on her team — one who held greater seniority and demonstrated stronger leadership than the MD apparently recognized or took the time to understand. Watching the grilling of Pam Bondi by Congress was inspirational. This is the level of scrutiny that should be applied to raised concerns at Citi—but they’ve rigged the game so it seldom happens. The arbitration clause exists to cover all manners of corporate sins. The release they want you to sign is the lid on…
