Dear Story 381: I was infamously targeted by Citi in a smear campaign. It was vicious. They didn’t even try to hide the fact that they were framing me in order to fire me. And, then, in mediation they produced altered documents. Absolutely shameless.
If I had to do it over again, I would have put myself on FMLA and immediately hired an attorney to negotiate my exit. But because I lacked context for what was happening – as a stellar employee with 20+ years of no HR incidents – I was completely blindsided. That to say, if you believe you are being targeted then you ARE being targeted. Don’t second guess your instincts. Find a way to put them on defense and you stay on offense.
Hopefully someone else in this community will offer additional advice! Wishing you the best.
