Story 430

Dear Story 429,

I love the sentiments in your post and completely agree with everything you say, however we are past the point of hoping that Fraser is a champion of women. I was laid off from Citi’s HR department over the Summer, after serving 11 years and the experience for women at Citi was much better under Mike Corbat. Citi’s retreat on diversity under Jane Fraser is not theoretical; the results are visible. What is equally striking is how little tolerance she has for strong, outspoken women who challenge existing power structures. Representation means very little if women are welcome only when they are agreeable. If you listen closely to what she says, she makes it very clear that she’s a proud member of the Old Boy’s Club.

The culture has become totally intolerable – toxic doesn’t begin to describe it. As a single mother, I was concerned about being laid off but my mental health is so much better not to work for the *charming, cough* head of HR, [REDACTED].
