Story 53
Having posted a story myself, and many more drafted but not submitted – I feel the need to say to those who have been so vulnerable and brave enough to share their own but are still at the firm – you owe them nothing. The current news alone is evidence that you can find your place in the industry at another institution that will value you – or at least, not take psychological control over you to the point where you feel you owe the firm everything you have to offer and in turn receive illegal retaliation, harassment, intimidation, the list goes on… treatment in turn. You owe a firm the job you were hired to do. Nothing more, nothing less. And in return, they over you a paycheck.
For those still loath the firm, I understand. Only because I’ve been there.
BUT BUT BUT –
At the time, what I thought was the most difficult life decision of ever have to make – which was to remove myself from the toxic environment that had crippled my being – with nothing lined up – turned out to be the most freeing and prospering decision I ever made.
To my female peers – especially whomever shared and ended with ‘but until I leave Citi’ my prayer is that you are able to brake through the psychological trap they have encapsulated your worth, your purpose in – and respect yourself enough to walk away. You are worthy of so much good and I hope you find the grave and the strength to see and to give yourself that. And to give no more to Citi’s grappling and suffocating irrational and illegal psychological control over your life. They are the problem, not you my dear.
All my love and support
