Story 55

I can’t tell you how much this website means to me. Growing up, my sister and I lived in the shadow of our stepfather—a man who used religion as a weapon for his own cruelty. He was an authoritarian in every sense, constantly searching for any reason to punish us. It always felt like he didn’t just want order; he enjoyed the control. He even told us we’d never be ‘good enough’ for anything outside of the religious world he controlled.

But we found our way out. She left at 17, and I followed close behind. Today, I’m the proud father of three fiercely independent, free-thinking girls. My sister has built an incredible career and a beautiful family of her own. We took the darkness of our past and turned it into a foundation of freedom for our kids. Thank you for giving people like us a voice.
