Story 63
Congratulations on creating a safe space for women to share their experiences and share their stories. I salute you!
With over 18 years in global markets, I’ve sadly seen and experienced it all – sexual harassment, being passed over for promotion simply because I was a women, seen as a lesser performing employee as I went through IVF with the looming cloud that if I was successful and subsequently pregnant I would be a drain on resources. I’ve had male colleagues comment on my weight, my ethnicity, my clothing…the list goes on.
Perhaps the greatest insult to injury is when I’ve watched my male managers
promote less qualified women into big seats because they pushovers are not controversial – ‘ why can’t you be more like ‘ female colleague X’ she doesn’t have an opinion and she goes with the flow. You need to learn we know what we’re doing and just say yes. That’s why everybody likes her’.
NDA for my silence just so I could walk out with what I deserved and be free.
I’ve never worked at Citi but I’ve worked at 2 of the top 3. This is not just a Citi issue and ladies I encourage you to call out MS, JP, GS.
