Story 95

Stories 85 and 94 are worse than anyone can imagine. The Technology group at Citi is known internally as the “Indian Mafia.” For years, it has operated like an unchecked power center where people do whatever they want, whenever they want. What business partners ask for rarely matters, and the spending is out of control.

There is no meaningful second-line oversight on anything the organization is responsible for. And the quality of QA, UAT, and production support is so shoddy that it’s hard to understand how basic functions even stay operational. I’ve been here six years expecting a major failure, and I’m genuinely surprised it hasn’t happened.

The culture is indescribably bad and is only marginally better today because thank god the COO of the firm is no longer in charge.
