Story 103
I worked for a large international bank and during my time there I suffered a miscarriage the day before my 3 month scan was due. I notified my employer who put me on 2 weeks sick leave assuming I would be back after 2 weeks, under the pressure of working for this toxic manager who happened to be male I returned after 2 weeks of sick leave from a miscarriage, however I was still emotionally and mentally scarred and to make matters worse my manager made me sit opposite a colleague who was 6 months pregnant. I could not move seats because there was no where else to sit. My performance suffered and at my end of year review I was put on a performance improvement plan. I raised this with HR , provided all the evidence and was told they would need to open an investigation and interview everyone involved. I was emotionally weak at the time and wanted a resolution not another process to go through to prove I was treated unfairly so I didn’t pursue it. Looking back I should of if I had more courage at the time.
