Story 256

I’m one of several women at a Citi location in the U.S. who experienced sustained harassment from a senior leader who was repeatedly given a pass despite repeated HR violations. I’m not naming the location out of concern about retaliation but if I did, the ER personnel would know exactly what I mean. One told me they are drowning in complaints.

I spent today re-reading stories, and I’m sure someone who is unfamiliar with Citi’s culture will think the incidents are too outrageous to be believed. In fact, what has been shared is only the tip of the iceberg. The lack of ethics in every corner of every building is so deep that women who work there long enough – especially those of us who lack seniority – understand there is no point trying to get help.

It is not normal; don’t let them try and convince you this “happens everyday” at other Wall Street banks – it doesn’t. Jane herself said on an MD conference call “there are easier places to work” – too bad she doesn’t use her power as CEO and Board Chair to even try and make it better. *eyeroll*

Thank you to Story 259 for testifying that even men think Citi is a professionally bankrupt environment. The baseless arrogance in this place is staggering — particularly given how little actual capability underlies it. When MDs were pushed out in the 2023 reorganization, some called the Big Four looking for positions and couldn’t be placed…

Congratulations on creating a safe space for women to share their experiences and share their stories. I salute you! Thank you Story 135/136, you’re story helps me realize I’m not crazy and that this system is built to drive away talent. There seem to be no standards or expectations of managers other than that they were loyal to their managers and not a threat to their career. This leads to one ineffective leader cascading…

Re: Story 238—I was a business analyst on Julia Carreon’s team when she was ousted from Citi. The situation was abrupt and unusual, and it left everyone with the sense that something serious had happened. I’ve been waiting to see if her name surfaced on this platform so I could show my support. She is…
