Story 19
I’m on a large group text where Butcher’s article was shared. One of the women asked the men to show support, so I’m doing that. This needs to change. S. Scott

Story 18
I’ve spent 30 years in the brokerage business; big fan of Sarah Butcher’s column. I’ve got three daughters. Change is overdue. I don’t think the younger generation is going to tolerate the double standards women face in this business, and frankly they shouldn’t have to. Those standards limit good people and hurt the industry as a whole. Tom M.

Story 17
Read Sarah Butcher’s article on eFinancialCareers today. The timing is striking, given the woman who went viral on LinkedIn yesterday after saying she was suing one of the largest VC funds in the world for pay discrimination and more. It sounds like she was dared by the firm to speak publicly – and did. The support she’s received says a lot. I don’t believe the old…

Story 16
Saw this on eFinancialCareers. I’m a tall white Millennial who’s benefited from the system, and even I can see how bad the double standards are for women in finance. It’s embarrassing the industry enables it. Adding my support. John

Story 15
My daughter forwarded me the article about this site from efinancialcareers.com. I just wanted to drop a note providing my support for what these courageous women are doing. She has spoken for years about the double standard of professional conduct that women are held to, but it sounds like Citi’s HR department doesn’t even try to hide their bias. Brava, ladies! You have truth on your…

Story 14
I was recruited to Citi in early 2023. At my first company mixer, during a conversation with three female Managing Directors, they openly discussed HR’s flagrant hostility toward women. Spent the next two years networking my way back to my former firm and escaped in 2025. Don’t understand how this isn’t a risk issue for its Board of Directors.

Story 13
For years, I spent my time updating strategy—working to align with each new corporate mantra, asking to be integrated into the organization with every restructuring. It was clear that much thought had gone into what the “new” organization was supposed to represent. Each time, I searched for where my team fit in the design. We never did. So, I created documents to show alignment, to carve…

Story 12
I was laid off by Citi in January, 2024. I was 69 at the time and had a combined 45 years of tenure dating back to Shearson. I had recently chosen to leave a Regional Director position managing the state of CA for Wealth Management. I was very highly regarded by my team, my colleagues and my direct manager. My position at the time of the…

Story 11
I noticed the submission describing HR pressure on managers to terminate employees in ways that avoided paying severance. I believe a major publication investigated this practice at Citi and ultimately did not run the story because of *obvious* pressure from the company, despite evidence suggesting it was widespread. Perhaps this will encourage said-publication to pick that story back up.

Story 10
Here’s a legendary Citi story: A male MD known for bullying called a female peer an expletive in a team meeting. A complaint was filed; it was investigated and confirmed to be true. But the complainant was told that he “was misunderstood / didn’t mean it.” It was later confirmed by a colleague who had been at the firm for decades that HR had allowed numerous…
